Summary:

Position Summary: Neurodiagnostic Technologist (ND Tech) operates electronic equipment which graphically records electrical impulses generated in the brain to obtain data for the evaluation of brain function for EEG studies and may assist with NCS/EMGs.

Responsibilities:

  1. Collect patients' medical information as needed to customize tests.
  2. Accurately marks, measures, and applies electrodes using the 10-20 system in an appropriate amount of time.
  3. Performs high quality standard EEGs using technically adequate criterion.
  4. Indicate artifacts or interferences derived from sources outside of the brain, such as poor electrode contact or patient movement on EEG recordings.
  5. Records, reviews, annotates, and organizes EEG data.
  6. Understands and applies knowledge of EEG to provide excellent patient care and customer service to patients and families.
  7. Maintains diagnostic equipment - calibrate, trouble shoot, and correct malfunctions as needed.
  8. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age.
  9. Works with the department management as appropriate to ensure attainment of departmental goals and objectives.
  10. Participates in quality and continuing education initiatives.
  11. Participates in the Operative Monitoring of patients having invasive electrodes implanted.
  12. Demonstrates acquired knowledge of subjects pertaining to neurodiagnostic testing.
  13. Other duties as required.

Other information:

Technical Expertise
1. Experience in EEG testing and procedures is required.
2. Experience in healthcare is preferred.
3. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required, EPIC software is preferred.

Education and Experience

  1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Enrolled in or is a graduate of an accredited Electroneurodiagnostic Program, or at least 2 years of on-the-job EEG training is required.
  2. Certification: EEG registration (R. EEG T.) is required within three years of hire. Healthcare provider BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire.
  3. Years of relevant experience: 2 to 5 years is preferred.
  4. Years of experience supervising: None
