BMHI is looking for a creative, mission-driven Senior Music Therapist to design and deliver impactful, community-centered programming across the greater Boston area.

This role is tailor-made for a collaborative professional who thrives in a student-centered environment. Grounded in Community Music Therapy and a trauma-informed framework, the Senior Music Therapist co-creates participatory music experiences alongside community partners, including health centers and peer recovery programs. By maintaining an embedded presence at these sites, they build deep trust and generate practice-based evidence to scale long-term health outcomes. True to Berklee's educational vision, this professional also champions workforce development, directing the institute's music therapy internship program and mentoring students to build vital competencies in facilitation and clinical reasoning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Community Impact: Co-create culturally responsive, trauma-informed programs with community health and harm-reduction partners to support mental health and social connection.

  • Practice-Based Evidence: Integrate robust program evaluation to track engagement, outcomes, and program effectiveness.

  • Workforce Development: Lead the music therapy internship program, providing high-quality supervision, mentorship, and clinical evaluation for students.

Qualifications

  • Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) status and a Master’s degree in Music Therapy.

  • 5–7 years of experience in mental health settings utilizing trauma-informed frameworks.

  • Experience with participatory, context-based Community Music Therapy approaches.

  • Demonstrated success in group facilitation, program evaluation, and student internship supervision.

  • Reliable transportation for effective travel to off-site partner locations around greater Boston.
