These values foster a collaborative and ethically-driven community that is at the core of the Emory University mission./p pComplex Directors work with Residence Life staff members and the residents to facilitate an environment within the residence hall that will contribute to the intellectual, social, physical, moral, and cultural development of the students. Complex Directors articulate the philosophy and policies of ORSFL, Emory Campus Life, and Emory University, and, in turn, represent and present the needs and concerns of the students to the administration./p pstrongPosition Responsibilities:/strong/p pCommunity Development/p ul liEncourage students to make the most of their Emory experience by emphasizing awareness of various possibilities for learning and personal development./li liCounsel students on various issues, as necessary, and is involved in the referral and follow up of residents to Campus Life and university professionals./li liBe available and accessible to residents by making a strong commitment to being present in the hall./li liServe as a campus and community resource for students and staff by advising, providing guidance in planning programs and activities, and providing resources./li liBe knowledgeable of the residents located in the residence hall./li liDevelop a positive rapport with residents in order to create and maintain a positive atmosphere that stimulates a cooperative environment conducive to studying and group living./li liEncourage students to act with reason, assume responsibility for their action, and be considerate of personal and group rights and responsibilities./li liDevelops, presents, tracks, and evaluates educational programs for residents./li /ul pStaff Supervision and Training/p ul liSupervise a staff of 8-15 Resident Advisors. If in a first year hall, also supervise 9-16 Sophomore Advisors (SAs)./li liAssist with recruiting, interviewing, selecting, training, and evaluating staff in the supervisory area./li liClearly define responsibilities of staff duties./li liDevelop an agenda for and facilitate weekly staff meetings./li liOn a regular basis, meet one-on-one with all staff members./li liProvide staff with ongoing performance evaluations to recognize strong performance and develop steps to improve areas of weakness./li liCreate opportunities for staff development throughout the year for the purposes of continuing education and teambuilding./li /ul pspanAdministrative/span/p ul liManage a department collateral during the summer and academic year./li liMaintain the budget used for hall programming and other hall-related activities and needs./li liServe on call in a designated coverage area to handle emergency or other urgent situations./li liRespond directly to crisis situations and assist in the direction of responding staff. Ensure reporting of information in a timely, accurate, and appropriate manner./li liDemonstrate knowledge of and show consistency and thoroughness defining university policies and procedures./li liInterpret and enforce all Residence Life and university policies./li liMaintain operational oversight of onersquo;s assigned residence hall through the coordination of room inspections, coordinating the opening and closing of the hall, management of the occupancy verification process, and distribution of keys./li liServe as the primary point of contact for residentsrsquo; parents and families regarding residential situations./li liCommunity regularly with Campus Services and Housing Operations staff./li liServe as a hearing officer for the Office of Student Conduct./li liMaintain confidentiality in all matters related to residents and staff./li /ul pRole Model/p ul liConvey a positive attitude towards the position and its duties and responsibilities./li liDemonstrate leadership by developing a space for students to be successful in their personal, academic, and professional pursuits./li liAct as a positive role model for fellow staff members and residents by not participating in questionable and unethical behavior./li /ul pAdvising Residence Hall Association/p ul liProvide active advisement of onersquo;s respective hall council to ensure effective student-led initiatives and advocacy./li liDuring the fall semester, attend the Emory University RHA training conference./li liMeet regularly with individual members of the hall council./li /ul pAdditional Details/p pComplex Director on the Clairmont Campus/p ul liWork with upper division (typically third- and fourth-year students) in the Clairmont Residential/li liCenter (CRC), an apartment-style community, with 470 beds./li liSupervise a staff of 8 RAs./li /ul pComplex Director in the Second Year at Emory/p ul liWork with sophomore students in developing strategies for success, including thematic housing, LLCs, and connecting with campus partners./li liSupervise a staff of 10-15 RAs/li /ul /div /div div role="none"nbsp;/div div role="none"Apply online atnbsp;/div div role="none"nbsp;/div div role="none"https://staff-emory.icims.com/jobs/137604/residence-life-coordinator-%28complex-director%29---campus-life/job/div /div /div /div /div /div /div /div /div /div /div /div /div /div /div /div divnbsp;/div /div /div div div div role="none"nbsp;/div /div /div /div div id="oneupFeedbackHostNode"/div /div pnbsp;/p pstrongMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: /strongA bachelor's degree in student personnel, higher education, counseling or a related field.
